I got up this morning with every intention of running the puppy.
I didn’t. I thought instead I would blog so I would be ahead of my day and spend my evening with my husband.
Who worked late…
So I could run with my friend…
who got stuck out of town…
Let’s go back.
I got up early this morning and since I was up I decided to blog. While I was up my friend Reggie texted me with a great quote. By the way, I believe Reggie will someday blog again. I really do believe this. She maybe needs five minutes and a goal. But for now…let’s hang in there and wait.
She started with this one…a common quote we all love but the reminder is good:
Every day in Africa a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows that it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.
It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle.
When the sun comes up, you better be running.
Ethiopia, circa 1974
Color me embarrassed that I didn’t run. 🙁
In nature it is either eat or be eaten. Although the day’s beginning does not have to be quite so harsh as in the animal kingdom, human beings still do well to be prepared for the day. A god way to start your day is with at least 20 minutes of rigorous exercise, and a morning devotional time. Being ready for the day means also that you are well prepared by reading, practicing your craft, and organizing your space and materials ahead of time. For human beings timing and preparation are vital to living a pleasant and enjoyable life. A God-centered life that revolves around: A strong work ethic, sense of humor, family devotion and loving nature is a life that not just survives but thrives. Be greater than the ones who race; walk with the One who created the Way.
Unfortunately I don’t know who to attribute this to (though if Miss Reg will let me know I’ll update the blog as my searching was for naught). I thought this was the perfect thing for my day. She must be in my mind. My day is so lost if I don’t start my morning right. And my favorite line “walk with the One who created the Way”. I think I want that tattooed. What a beautiful line.
On that note…have a great day. Start it right. Have a silent moment…or ten. Go for a run or just take a walk. Take some time. Morning should be for you. It sets the tone for the rest of the day. I wish you peace and success for a beautiful day. And run on.
